Description:	november 12 1987 city of terre haute 229 resolution no 53 1987 resolution no 53 1987 was read by digest resolution nu 53 1987 a resolution approving matching funds for the south first street improvement project whereas the city of terre haute board of public works and safety owns approximately 6,200 feet of roadway known as south first street and said roadway and rail crossings are in a deteriorated condition whereas the south first street corrider is a major employment center within the city of terre haute employing over 1200 people in 1 1 businesses whereas maintenance of good quality roads and rail crossings along south first street corrider is important to the successful operation of these businesses and the retention of employment along the corrider whereas over 1 70 new jobs from existing and new businesses are anticipated to be created along the south first street corrider over the next two years if street and drainage conditions are improved and a total of 190 new jobs are projected over the next 5 years if the quality of public facilities is raised whereas the city of terre haute through the department of redevelopment has applied to the economic development administration for the amount of 564,000 for construction of improvements along south first street said grant requires the city of terre haute to provide a local match for the project in the amount of 376,000 bringing the total project budget to 940,000 whereas the common council of the city of terre haute finds the improvement of south first street in the public interest and necessary to the economic development of the city now therefore be it resolved by the common council of the city of terre haute indiana tht the terre haute city council approves the expenditure of 376,932 by the terre haute redevelopment commission through the issuance of grant anticipatio warrants said warrants are to be secured by and repaid through 1988 community development block grant entitlement funds and be expended for improvements along south first street presented by larry kirchner councilman passed in open council this 12th day of november 1987 ray azar president attest charles p hanley city clerk presented by me to the mayor this 13th day of november 1987 charles p hanley city clerk approved by me the mayor this 13th day of november 1987 p pete chalos mayor attest charles p hanley city clerk motion was made by mr thompson and seconded by mr cook that resolution no 53 1987 be adopted by the common council motion carried unanimously appropriation ordinance no 16 1987 was read by digest and placed in the committee on finance with mr frazier as chairman special ordinance no 63 1987 was read by digest and placed in the committee on finance with mr frazier as chairman special ordinance no 64 1987 was read by digest and placed in the committee on finance with mr frazier as chairman special ordinance no 66 1987 was read by digest and placed in the committee on traffic with mr zaikovsky as chairman
