july 31 1987 city of terre haute 161 firemen of the rank of private who have served less than one 1 year from the date of their respective appointments shall be paid an annual salary of 13,883.00 firemen of the rank of private who have served more than one 1 year from the date of their respective appointments shall be paid an annual salary of 15,784.00 firemen of the rank of lieutenant shall be paid an annual salary of 16,417.00 firemen classified as fire alarm systems operators shall be paid an annual salary of 17,015.00 firemen of the rank of captain shall be paid an annual salary of 17,656.00 firemen classified as a mechanic of the fire department shall be paid an annual salary of 18,341.00 chief of fire alarm system shall be paid an annual salary of 19,073.00 firemen of the rank of probationary emt shall be paid an annual salary of 15,984.00 firemen of the rank of emt shall be paid an annual salary of 17,417.00 section 2 that in addition to salaries set forth in section 1 of this ordinance all employees of the fire department of said city irrespective of rank shall receive additional compensation based on the length and service with said department in the amounts as designated on the following schedule a on the second anniversary of employment an additional eighty 80 dollars per year b on the fourth anniversary of employment an additional eighty 80 dollars per year c on the sixth anniversary of employment an additional eighty 80 dollars per year d on the eighth anniversary of employment an additional eighty 80 dollars per year e on the tenth anniversary of employment an additional eighty 80 dollars per year f on the twelfth anniversary of employment an additional eighty 80 dollars per year g on the fourteenth anniversary of employment an additional eighty 80 dollars per year h on the sixteenth anniversary of employment an additional eighty 80 dollars per year i on the eighteenth anniversary of employment an additional one hundred and twenty 120 dollars per year representing a maximum of seven hundred sixty 760 dollars section 3 city firemen shall work fifty-six hours per week as designated in the contract referred to in section 13 hereof by the fire chief section 4 members of the terre haute fire department shall be entitled to the following nine 9 holidays new years day washingtons birthday to be observed on the third monday in february good friday memorial day independence day labor day veterans day thanksgiving day and christmas day if said holiday falls within a members vacation or if a member is required to work such holiday or any part of such holiday said member may receive a day off or a proportionate part of a day off whichever is applicable days off or proportionate parts of days off may be designated by the chief of the terre haute fire department as soon as it is practical after such holiday but in no event may such day off be granted more than one calendar year following the day off for which it is granted in any event that this section shall be in conflict with any previously existing city ordinance regarding holidays for members of the terre haute fire department this section shall supercede and replace any and all other such ordinances in regards to holidays for members of the terre haute fire department section 5 commencing january 1 1985 the city of terre haute will pay for and on behalf of each active member of the terre haute fire department the amount of eight hundred 800.00 dollars for clothing allowance payable four hundred 400.00 dollars on or before june 10 and four hundred 400.00 dollars on or before december 10 and six hundred 600.00 dollars for food allowance payable three hundred 300.00 dollars on or before march 10 and three hundred 300.00 dollars on or before september 10 section 6 commencing january 1 1985 the city of terre haute will pay for and on behalf of each member both temporary and permanent an amount equal to seventy 70 percent of the annual premium for health and hospitalization insurance available without restriction to members of the fire force of the city of terre haute indiana under group insurance rates as a term and provision of the foregoing insurance rates as a term and provision of the foregoing wage ordinance the citys obligation hereunder shall be to assume and pay an amount equal to seventy percent(70 of the group health and hospitalization insurance charged either on a single or a family plan such as individual members may individually elect to be covered under such health and hospitalization insurance shall be the same or substantially similar to the coverage and schedule of the benefits which are presently in force on the date of presentation of this ordinance the payment of the sums contemplated herein by the city of terre haute shall be by means of payroll deduction through the office of the controller of the city of terre haute indiana as insurance premiums are presently deducted in such office section 7 overtime or additional pay can be paid to members of the terre haute fire department for work performed |
