Describes the Neighborhood Study Help Program, which was directed toward improving the academic performance of disadvantaged children in St. Joseph County. Students from the University of Notre Dame and St. Mary’s College, as well as high school students and volunteers from qualified laymen tutored students. The program was initially coordinated between Notre Dame and the local chapter of the NAACP.
