Around the Bend was a newsletter of the Womens International League for Peace and Freedom and Pledge of Resistance (WILPF). It contains news and information regarding civil rights and social justice activities in and around South Bend, Indiana, as well as national and international news thought relevant to readers. In this issue there are reports on a Freeze Walk to benefit the Nuclear Freeze Campaign and a mayoral candidate forum on neighborhoods. Steve Francis reports on a Funeral for Contra Aid in South Bend, while Peter Smith discusses the Pledge of Resistances goals for 1988. Peter also contributes an open letter to Congressman John Hiler, and Hilde Bomer contributes a personal reflection on the local WILPFs 1987 retreat. |
