Description: Program from the swearing in ceremony of the 2012 South Bend Common Council and Mayor Pete Buttigieg. Spurred on by passage of the Religious Freedom Restoration Act by the Indiana State Legislature, Mayor Pete announced in a June 2015 essay published in the South Bend Tribune that he is gay. He was the first openly gay mayor of an Indiana city.
