Description: This is a report from South Bend Community School Corporation Superintendent Dr. Alex Jardine in response to queries from the Committee on Education of the South Bend, Indiana, Branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People and the Coordinating Council on Human Relations. The report is a survey conducted by school officials the number of Negroes employed by the school system, the number and distribution of Negro children in the schools, and the efforts of the school system concerning equal rights and the improvement of human relations. Includes descriptions of multi-racial school curriculum materials, health services, athletics, vocational and adult education programs. Includes numbers of Negro children per school building, number of Negro employees in the schools, and the numbers of school drop-outs by race and gender.
