Care tag reads, This Article Berlou Moth Proofed 3 Year Guarantee. Rose & Katz was founded in early 1940 by Louis E. Rose and Julius M. Katz in South Bend, Indiana. Their first store was located on 138 North Main Street in South Bend. Sometime in the mid-1940s, they moved to 131 North Main Street in South Bend. In 1946, Louis Rose retired from the company, and Julius Katz became sole owner. Rose & Katz had a sponsored junior baseball team, which was not uncommon of companies from that era. In 1953, Charles A. Geleide, Leo A. Ball, and Melvin J. Krauser purchased the business from Julius Katz. After being bought, the company was renamed in 1954 to The Mens Corner. In 1963, Geleide and Ball sold their majority of their shares of the company to Mr. and Mrs. John D Nichols of Rossford, Ohio. Charles A. Geleides obituary states that he owned and operated the company until his retirement in 1966. |
