Report of George Winters distribution of 20 paintings at Melodeon Hall on Dec. 30, 1854. There was a large audience, and H.P. Biddle gave a lecture on art, from which an excerpt is quoted. 13 paintings were won by Lafayette residents and the rest by people in Evansville, Toledo, Columbus, Indiana, Indianapolis, Logansport, Fort Wayne, and Lockport, N.Y. The titles include: Seeking the Shade, Crossing the Creek Vicinity of Cincinnati, Maumee River, Eel River, Wabash Scene, Spotted Fawn, Three Pottawattamie Women, Pottawattamie Girl, Dawn Charge, Mt. Gilboa, Ndam-in-a-doo, Sunset, A Good Shot, Indian Wigwam (Gem), Scripture Scene, Oliver Cromwell, Winter Scene, Fording (Gem).
