On the Tippecanoe Battleground

Description: On the Tippecanoe Battleground. Nov. 7th 1873 AMs, 2p. (written in pencil)Sixty-two years ago, the battle was fought; todays scene, with cultivated fields, enclosed battle site, and many of the old oaks gone, only vaguely recalls the events of that time. A group of Tippecanoe County residents has visited the battle-ground today to honor this anniversary. General Tipton presented the site to the state of Indiana on Nov. 7, 1836; nearly all of that area is now enclosed by a fence, except for an area adjacent to the Methodist Institute, where Major Wells forces stood. This now peaceful ground was the scene of great carnage 62 years ago. The dead were hastily buried in a shallow grave covered with leaves.
