Description: Handwritten letter (copy?)From: [George Winter?] [n.d.; early 1839?] [Logansport?]To: C. [Sands?]AL (unsigned), 2 p. (one sheet)Stained and tornThanking (Sands) for his attempts to influence the Indian Department on George Winters behalf. News of friends (Dr. Jerrolamen), (Logansport residents); Jerrolamens argument with John Wright (public prosecutor) over some coffee. General Tipton may become Governor. Received a letter from (Pepper?), who has shown his council scene painting to the Indian Department. Requests (Sands) to collect for him signatures or letters of eminent persons while in Washington, for G.W. to sell if he returns to England. Understands (Sands) wants G.W. to paint a head portrait, which he will begin. In blank area: Four-line verse, written in pencil.
