Firehose

Description: Firehose cart one of the first, if not the first, hose cart used by the Nappanee Fire Department during the 1880s.This hose cart has 2 large wooden wheels with metal along the outer edge of the wheel, and a small barrel around the axel to wrap a hose around. The barrel has spokes on it to help turn the barrel in order to get the hose on and off the barrel easier. There is also a long metal handle to aid in pulling the cart. At the base of the handle is a wooden box, possibly used for storage.
