Mock-up of the Roton built for Rotary RocketThe Roton was going to have helicopter rotors on top for aid in re-entry. Rotary Rocket working to participate in the X Prize. A 10 million prize of a space craft that could carry people to space and back and repeat the flight within two weeks. The contest started in 1996 and was won in 2004 by Scaled Composites with its craft, SpaceshipOne. After Lees death in 2001, the family started to bring his things home from his various offices. The Space Capsule was located in California at the Mojave Desert Aerospace Center. Supreme Corporation in Goshen was instrumental in bringing it to Nappanee to the family farm. It was in the family farm’s Quonset hut for 13 years. |
