Ziers Boiler Works.Railroad Depots of Southern Indiana, by David E. Longest states: New Albany & Salem Railroad (NA&S), which later became the Monon, used at least five different buildings in New Albany over the years to meet its needs for freight houses and passenger depots. The NA&Ss earliest structure was the combination passenger depot and freight house located at 125 East Oak Street, built for $18,000. It was used by the Monon until 1891. This photograph, taken after 1895, shows that M. Zier and Company moved into the old depot after the NA&S built a freight house on Sycamore Street and a passenger depot on Vincennes Street. |
