Man at popcorn and snack shop, Columbus, Indiana, 1950

Description: A man wearing a suit and hat holds a bag of popcorn or roasted nuts at a snack stand that sold popcorn, caramel corn, fresh assorted Double Kay nuts, and Eskimo pies on the northeast corner of 5th and Washington Streets. Another view of this corner is seen in image ia-0201-0020.This was a unpublished Life magazine photograph taken in January of 1950. Locals state that this is John S. McGinnis (1909-1976), a local real estate agent and owner of the popcorn shop at this time. In 1950 the stand was called the Tasty Popcorn and Nut Store. It sold Double Kay nuts.
