Description: Shown is Island Home on Biddle Island, submerged during the Flood of 1913 which began on Easter Sunday, March 23, 1913. Biddles Island, a 17-acre island in the Wabash River near the confluence of the Eel River, was named for Horace P. Biddle, a judge and poet who owned the island. His brick home, where he died in 1900, was built by John Tipton. After Biddles death, the house was owned by artist Wilson Wils Reed Berry at the time of the 1913 flood, which damaged many of his paintings and relics.
