Frame 7 of the collapse of a scaffolding at the Indianapolis 500, 30 May 1960. Freelance photographer J. Parke Randall was a stringer for the Indianapolis News assigned to the 3rd turn on the northeast corner. During the pace lap he heard screams and quickly took four shots of the falling tower. Two people died and over 80 people were injured. In this image Mr. Randall pointed out the Indianapolis News photographers on the crane. |
