Description: This interior of a movie theater shows ornate seats in the back rows and wooden folding chairs in the front, near the piano or organ (about 50 seats in all). There are lavish decorations on the walls featuring women dancing. Some of the advertisers represented on the screen on the canvas curtain are Barney Leitz City Shoe Store, Gilbert the Photographer, Sawyers Confectionary, Hesker Jewelry Co., Denbarth (?) the Tailor, Herbert Dwyer Everything Electrical, Charles W. Racer Homes, R. J. Barnes & Co. Feed, Meal, Coal. The signage on the curtain was by D(?). E. Mathews of Muncie. Photo by Gilbert of Dunkirk.The September 16, 1916 issue of Moving Picture World has an article that reads Dunkirk Sunday Arrest - Dunkirk, Ind. - Herbert Dwyer, proprieter of a moving picture theater of this city, was arrested and placed under bond of $100 in circuit court recently on the charge of desecrating the Sabbath. It is alleged that he operated his theater on Sunday.
