One of four mounted photographs of vehicles manufactured by White Steam Wagon Company in Indianapolis, ca. 1901-1905.Painted on one truck is Paul H. White Engineering Company, Indianapolis and the plaques read White Steam Wagon Co. Research reveals that Paul Helb White (1871-1946, and son-in-law of prominent banker Volney T. Malott) built his factory at 365 W. 15th Street in 1901 to manufacture heavy steam trucks, drays, and omnibuses. The trucks were coke fueled and went 5 miles per hour. Houses are seen in the background of this unknown location. |
