Funeral photograph of World War I soldier Raymond Murphy, Indianapolis, Indiana,

Description: Clues within this funeral photograph of a young World War I soldier named Raymond, as well as memorial flowers from Wayne 288 YMI (Wayne Council Young Mens Institute, a Catholic organization), and the name of a west-side Indianapolis photographer led to the identity of this man as Raymond Andrew Murphy. His obituary (Indianapolis Star, 11 November 1918, p. 9) and Find-A-Grave states that he died of diabetes at Fort Dodge, Iowa on November 9, 1918. His funeral was held in the home of his parents, Thomas H. and Mary Murphy, at 1123 Germania Avenue (renamed Belleview Place due to anti-German sentiment during World War I).
