Postcard printed by Polar Ice Company showing one of the oldest houses in Indianapolis at the time -- circa 1910. The house originally stood near the Clayppol Hotel, at the corner of Washington and Illinois Streets, according to the card text, but was moved to Senate Avenue, near Vermont Street, around 1895 when the hotel expanded.The front of the card shows two men delivering ice from a horse-drawn wagon that says Polar Ice & Fuel Co. on the side. |
