The message on the front reads: The likeness of this picture is running at large. He is expected to be in Terre Haute about Fri. (Apr. 30) accompanied by a 10 yr. girl. Please apprehend him and receive best wishes of citizens in general. By permission:-- Rogues Gallery -- Coal City. It is addressed to Miss Joanna Lynd, 1929 N. 8th St., Terre Haute. In later ball point pen is written Carl Kilmer. A little research shows that John Carl Kilmer (1876-1957) was a farmer and laborer in Jackson Township, Owen County. He had a daughter born just before the turn of the century, and a perpetual calendar says that there was a Friday, April 30 in 1909. |
