Written on the back is Dick Hiatt? / 8 [G?]irl.This unidentified photograph was acquired with images ia-0001-3024 and ia-0001-3028. Nettie Robertson Hiatt, in image 3024 was married to Nathan Harmen Hiatt, their son was Richard (Dick). Nathan Hiatt is listed in the 1920 Van Buren, Grant County, Indiana census as a miller in an elevator. The J. Studebaker and Son Elevator listed in the 1911 Van Buren Sanborn Fire Insurance Map, sheet 2 has an identical configuration. This view is of the north and east facades of the structure. The elevator was known as Hoosier Grains for several decades in the 1900s and was demolished in the early 1980s. |
