A man, probably the tollkeeper, stands in front of a log building tollhouse while a bicyclist rides nearby on the old canal towpath. Postmarked January 26, 1911.Based on the curve of the canal and newspaper articles, this is likely the beginning of the bicycle toll path at West 30th Street looking north. Cyclists paid five cents to ride on a gravel path on the former canal towpath. |
