Trench digging project, New Castle, Indiana, circa 1925

Description: Men eating lunch on with a steam-powered trench-digging machine made by F. C. Austin Drainage Excavator Company in Chicago. Patent dates stencilled on the machine appear to read 1903 through 1906.The lender indicated that this might be a WPA (Works Progress Administration) project in or near New Castle, but the photo appears older than the 1930s.
