Description: Interior of Zaphs Restaurant on the northeast corner of East Market and Pine Streets. A large group of people sit at a table eating chicken and beer. Based on his obituary photo, the man seated 4th from the right is owner Stamatis Stam Zaphiriou. Pinball machines line the back wall.It opened in 1946 and was operated by Stamatis John Zaphiriou ( -1964) and his son William S. ( Billy or Zaph) Zaphiriou (circa 1919-1969), natives of Greece. His obituary states that Billy operated Zaphs Restaurant for the last 23 years and the fathers obituary states that it opened in 1946 and Stamatis retired in 1959.
