Description: A crowd watches a procession of covered wagons traveling east on West Market Street toward the Washington County Courthouse. A large Welcome 23rd sign is near the public square. The parade passes by J. M. Morris or Morrison Livery, Feed, and Sale Stable.Since 1875, the town of Salem has held an Old Settlers Day festival in September to honor its local pioneers. The flags that people wave date this to about 1908-1912 since they have alternating stars.
