Hoosier Inn, Rensselaer, Indiana, circa 1922

Description: Three-story home converted into the an inn, circa 1922. The Hoosier Inn was a hotel dating back to the 1910s. The old house at 206 North Cullen Street became the Rensselaer Hotel and renamed the Hoosier Inn in 1921 by Charles and Laura Moody. The Hotel World: Hotel and Travelers Journal quoted the owners in 1921, while small it is one of the classiest hotels in Indiana...We get our milk, cream, eggs, chickens and turkeys from our own farm, and expect in season to make a specialty of chicken dinners, country style for tourists. They promoted cold and hot water in every room and several bathrooms. In 1928, an annex was built to the back and the hotel and later apartments were used until 1982. Developers razed the structure for a parking lot for a bank.
