Richard W. (Dick) Clark (1925-1997), founder of Dick Clarks Drive In (see ia-0378-0623 for an image of the restaurant and grocery). Clark started an ice cream shop adjacent to his uncles store, Sutton Grocery, in 1947. After his uncle died, Clark operated the ice cream shop and the grocery store. In 1961, he closed the grocery store and re-opened it as a restaurant. Renovations occurred in 1969, 1982, and 1999.
