Description: |
The Ruins, a sculpture designed by artist Elmer Taflinger, was dedicated in 1973. Taflinger reused sculptor Karl Bitter's "The Races of Man" statues, created in the late 1890s for the St. Paul Building in New York City. When the building was demolished in the late 1950s, Taflinger's design won a nationwide contest and the city was gifted the statues. |
