The Grist Mill of Whitewater Canal, Metamora, Indiana, circa 1975

Description: Caption: The Grist Mill of Whitewater Canal State Memorial at Metamora, Indiana, was built in 1845 at Lock 25. It has used water from the Canal to power its machinery, first by a diversion of water through a tub wheel, later, as water traffice ceased in the 1860s, by the installation of a turbine wheel in the lock. Mill operation is presently powered by a breast wheel housed in the lock.
