Description: Gamewell Division employees, many in overalls, pose by a truck painted Police & Fire Alarm / Gamewell Division. The adjacent house is 1606-1608 Carrollton Avenue. By comparison to other photographs, assistant superintendant William B. Griffis stands 3rd from left. The Gamewell Division maintained Gamewell fire alarm boxes (named for John Gamewell who manufactured the boxes), police call boxes, and did electrical repair for city-owned buildings. The Gamewell system was in operation in Indianapolis between 1909 and 1954.
