Seen are signs for the Brown-Manly Plow Company and Brown Manufacturers atop the brick house at 313 South New Jersey and Berkos on the building at 301 South New Jersey. The Stewart-Carey Glass Company warehouse, constructed in 1911, is in the background next to the Virginia Apartments or Flats on the northeast corner of South New Jersey Street, East Louisiana Street, and Virginia Avenue.The four-story brick Stewart-Carey Glass Company building was gutted by fire in January 1918, but the company rebuilt and remained at this location. |
