Description: |
Written on the back of this unsent real photo postcard with an AZO stamp box (dating to 1904-1918) is: 5017 College Ave. / Indianapolis / Ind. / Rural Route 36.City directories show that as early as 1910, the house at 5017 North College Avenue was occupied by banker William Wesley Woollen (1860-1927), his son William Wesley Woollen, Jr. (1893-1968), and the elder Woollens sister, Susan (Woollen) Applegarth (1851-1938). The 1916 Baist map shows that the address changed, and would later be at approximately 5019-5021 North College Avenue. The house shown is no longer at that location and was replaced with a brick double dwelling. |
