Description: |
Postcard depicts several boats on a lake, one a canoe with two young men and the other has five young men and an older gentleman in the back. Writing on the front names the location as the lake at Camp ChankTunungi. The more common spelling is Chank-Tan-Un-Gi (with the hyphens). The boy scout camp opened in 1918 on more than 200 acres of land near Fort Benjamin Harrison. It was renamed Camp Belzer in 1940 after Francis O. Belzer, the first leader of the Indianapolis Boy Scout Council. |
