Celestine Phelps by her Denominational Garden, Martinsville, Indiana, circa 1910

Description: This garden owned by a woman known locally as Aunt Tiny was the inspiration for a character in a book entitled Lovey Mary by Alice Hegan Rice.According to the November 29, 1903 Courier-Journal of Louisville, KY, Aunt Tinys real name was Miss Celestina R. Phelps. The article says that the cottage was built in 1835. She died in 1912 and her cottage was demolished shortly thereafter.
