Behind the banner is a brick structure on Church Street, likely a former church, identified on Sanborn maps as the town hall. South of the church a building is under construction or demolition. On the right, interurban car No. 326 runs along the tracks on South Main Street. Brick commercial buildings on the left house Livezey and Son Hardware in a building at 214 South Main Street and a furniture store in the Stafford and Henshaw building at 210-212 South Main Street.The photograph is blindstamped Brattains Studio / Newcaste, Ind. Claude S. Brattain owned a cirkut camera as early as 1911. Handwritten on the back is 1715 / Price 1.00 / Christian Church. The church no longer stands in 2020. |
