Description: Photo of firemen climbing ladders to a rooftop to control a fire in a commercial building originally named the Wiley Block. The water from the hose has frozen forming ice on the front of the building. Some of the signs along the street located in the adjacent Rialto building and the Ober Building (the When Block) advertise Vonnegut Sporting Goods, Arthur Murray Dance Studio, GAC Loans, and Rogers Studio Photography, and Stationers.According to the Indianapolis Star, Fire Destroys 2 Downtown Buildings, 13 December 1962, p. 1, Troys Restaurant occupied the first floor and Hofmeisters Physical Culture Studio and gymnasium was on the third floor of 16 North Pennsylvania Street. The fire also destroyed the adjacent vacant building on the northwwest corner of North Pennsylvania and East Washington Streets.
