Autographed on the front: Compliments to the Muncie Traffic Dept., John Wells.Senator John F. Kennedy campaigned for president in Muncie on October 5, 1960 and gave a speech on the courthouse lawn, as well as at Muncie Gear Works. At the time, Rupert Vance Hartke (1919-2003) and Matthew E. Welsh (1912-1995) were Democratic United States Senators from Indiana; Welsh was campaigning to become Indiana governor. Lawyer Marshall Hanley was Kennedys Eastern Indiana campaign director.
