A handwritten message on the back from owners Mr. and Mrs. T. J. Taylor promotes short orders, lunch, home cooking, ice cream, soft drinks, coffee, and both counter and table service. A sign to the left appears to read Home of Clean Dancing.An advertisement for the business appears in the Indianapolis Star on June 13, 1930, p. 42. It was at the entrance to Tippecanoe Lake and they also sold souvenirs. The Muncie Star Press reported on September 5, 1932, p. 2 that the Taylors will return to Portland, Indiana after disposing of their cottage at Tippecanoe Lake, where they had been engaged in the restaurant and grocery business during the summer season for several years.The owners were Thornton J. Taylor (1894-1933) and Lillie E. (Smith) Taylor (1874-1953). |
