G. C. Murphy store employees cutting ribbon with scissors, Franklin, Indiana, June 1959

Description: Female G. C. Murphy store employees pose with a giant pair of prop scissors for a ribbon cutting. A sign reads Opening Special, so this was probably taken during grand opening of the new G. C. Murphy store in 1956. According to the Franklin Evening Star, 26 July 1956, p. 1, the new G. C. Murphy Company store reopened in a new, modern building that morning. The old store at the same location was destroyed by fire on November 25, 1955.From a collection of photographs depicting the G.C. Murphy store and employees. See images ia-0321-c001-0002 through ia-0321-c001-0025 for more photos from this collection.
