Parade of children with bags over their heads, Matthews, Indiana, circa 1915

Description: Children with paper bags over their heads march along Massachusetts Avenue, most likely during an October street fair. Behind the kids, a commercial structure on the southeast corner of Massachusetts Avenue and East 8th Street housed Dr. Charles F. Dawsons (1857-1937) office and the Swift & Company Cream Buying Station. The company also sold meat, eggs, and other products. Bernard E. Stehle (1863-1946) also ran a drug store in the building. The structure no longer stands..
