Description: Lineman George Keifer (1878-1953) of Petersburg poses on a telephone or electric pole for photographer Charles W. Bee. He wears a suit with climbing spikes or gaffs strapped to his legs. He holds a blowtorch. This view looks east from Center Street toward the Palace Lodge, a brick Italianate building constructed as a lodge hall in 1892. To the right of the brick structure is a shoe store. To the right is a frame building that sold hardware and stoves.Kiefer is listed in the 1910 census as a 32-year-old single man living with his parents. He was a laborer for the electric light company.
