Re-enactment of the Pearl Bryan murder, Fort Thomas, Kentucky, circa 1896

Description: This photo is a re-enactment at the site of the notorious murder and decapitation of Pearl Bryan 1896. Pearl Bryan (circa 1874-1896), a young pregnant woman from Greencastle, Indiana, was found headless in Fort Thomas, Kentucky. Her head was never found, but she was eventually identified by her shoes that bore a label from a Greencastle shoe store. Her boyfriend and an accomplice were hanged for the murder. One web site identifies that as a crime scene photo of Pearl after she had been moved by the coroner, but the neck indicates that this was a reenactment.
