Real photo postcard titled Public School, Parker, Ind. Stones near the central windows read Monroe School. It was located in Monroe Township. Postmarked January 22, 1913.The two-story and basement brick school with a domed tower was built in 1909 and first occupied in February 1910. It was located on four acres adjacent to the Indiana Union Traction line [source: Muncie Star Press, February 11, 1910, p. 6]. This building was used as an elementary only after completion of the junior-senior high school in 1963 and was demolished in the 1980s. |
