Charles Fairbanks Mansion, Indianapolis, Indiana, 1912

Description: Charles Warren Fairbanks, an Indianapolis attorney, U. S. Senator, and U. S. Vice President from 1905 to 1909, and his wife Cornelia hired architect Howard Van Doren Shaw to design this home. It was completed in 1912. Fairbanks lived here until his death in 1918. It was empty for five years before the Indianapolis Life Insurance Company purchased it. A series of additions were made to the back and the home still serves as their corporate offices. Bass #41643.
