Queen Anne house at 1620 North Pennsylvania, Indianapolis, Indiana, circa 1911

Description: Real photo postcard of a girl standing in front of a two-story Queen Anne-style frame house. Handwritten in ink is 1620 N. Penna, Indianapolis. Postmarked September 25, 1911, it is from Nellie M. Ellingham to J. A. M. Adair of Portland, Indiana.According to the 1912 and 1913 Indianapolis city directories, the house was occupied by Indiana Secretary of State Lew G. Ellingham and his wife Margaret Ellen (nee Miller). Lewis Glendale L. G. Ellingham, a Democrat from Decatur, served as Secretary of State from November 1910 until November 1914. He was a journalist who owned the Fort Wayne Journal-Gazette. The child in front is too young to be one of the Ellingham children.
