A sign in the window reads in part Grand Opening / July 26th.According to the Franklin Evening Star, 26 July 1956, p. 1, The new G. C. Murphy Company store reopened in a new, modern building that morning. The old store at the same location was destroyed by fire on November 25, 1955.
