Fire damaged buildings on West Main Street, Danville, Indiana, 1913

Description: On June 6, 1913 a fire that began in the pressing room of Brewer Hadleys haberdashery spread to nearby buildings on the north side of West Main Street, just north of the Hendricks County Courthouse. Businesses affected included Bert Campbells restaurant, Horace Milligans barber shop, L. A. Barnetts book store, Dr. Herbert Sears dental office, C. L. Thompsons drug store, and Walter Whites photo studio (the fire destroyed all of his negatives). The Estep Block, with the hotel sign, on the northwest corner of West Main and North Washington Streets survived. The other buildings were razed and replaced.
