Frank Buckley opened a roadside stand named the Cumberland Barbecue on the National Road (U.S. 40) in about 1922. He replaced it with this modern structure in 1940 and changed the name to Buckleys Restaurant. It offered curbside service and was open 24 hours a day. Buckleys closed in about 1970 when the newly completed I-70 reduced business.The automobiles in the parking lot include a 1953 Chevrolet, 1954 Buick, 1955 Cadillac, and a 1957 Ford. |
