Bethany Lodge 1937

Description: Front: Script at top of postcard reads, Bethany Lodge, Winona Lake, Ind.Back: Memo reads, Aug. 31 - 1937. Bethany Camp. was sold on Monday to R.G. LaTourneau Peoria Ill. who will use it for a new Young Peoples Christian Organization. The Rev. Geo. Stepheus and Thelis G. Haymaker both former residents are interested in the new organization. Mr. LeTourneau is president of the association and Mrs. LeTourneau will direct the Young Peoples Conference. Heard him talk Aug. 30, 1937.
This postcard features Bethany Lodge. The message on the card contains some important historical information. It documents that R.G. LeTourneau (the Christian Industrialist) and his wife Evelyn had purchased Camp Bethany in August of 1937. The writer also mentions that a Wills Haymaker might be helping with the leadership of the camp. Haymaker went on to work for Billy Graham and is credited with coining the term crusade in conjuction with Graham.
